About us...

Our decision to launch The Progress Hub, a specialist tuition programme for entrance examination preparation, has been guided by our firm belief that we offer something unique and very special.  We are able to combine our experience and expertise in key subjects to deliver the whole package academically. Furthermore, we are parents whose children have been through the entrance examination process.

  • We have great local knowledge of secondary education provision and understand the pressures children and parents face as options for senior school are explored.
  • Years of teaching experience have taught us that for many children, their best learning takes place in small groups, allowing them to gain from peer support and shared experiences, with personalised support from their tutor.
  • The Progress Hub provides an environment which ensures your child will have all the focus and attention they need to enjoy learning, make progress and have the best chance of success in examinations

As a teacher, I am proud of the learning opportunities that I provide by building productive relationships with pupils and creating a successful working environment.

During my career, I have gained an in-depth knowledge of the entrance exam system that exists in Trafford and the surrounding areas. Whilst working within the independent sector, I was involved in planning and delivering intensive entrance exam preparation for Years 5 and 6 with successful outcomes.

My specialist subject is Mathematics, and I have experience of teaching Gifted and Talented pupils and supporting pupils with Maths Learning Difficulties. I have also attended training in Dyscalculia.

Most of my teaching experience has been within Upper Key Stage 2, both in the state and independent sectors where I have enjoyed additional responsibility. I have acted as I.T. Co-ordinator for several schools, designed aspects of a school website and I have been responsible for the introduction of a new computing scheme of work.

Whilst living in Sale with my husband and two children I have witnessed many changes in the local 11 plus system over the years, and even attended Sale Grammar School when it was for girls only!

I first began trialling an 11 plus tutorial programme with my own children whilst working as a primary school teacher in Manchester, when I identified that the skills often required for exam entrance success are frequently not secure in children until the end of Year 6.  We have subsequently developed our current tutorial model at the Progress Hub based on our joint experiences and successes.

Throughout my teaching career I have always aimed to build positive relationships with all my pupils, as I strongly believe that a child's self-confidence and self-esteem can strongly enhance their learning outcomes. Before becoming a teacher, I was a Project Manager in the field of Community Engagement and now utilise some of the principles to engage children in their learning and study in order to optimise their success and minimise stress that is often associated with exam preparation.
